Freeriders and pure sensations enthusiasts have now two areas dedicated on Villard-Corrençon's resort :
Ride a 40 ha area on a 300m drop face under the old Combeauvieux chairlift and its old blackslope “Anémone”. Ideal steepness, north looking face, perfect for powder day (or moguls). Access the area with Belvedere Chairlift.
Ride a 30 ha area on a 600m drop face on the old slope “Mouflon” called locally “Pourton”. Strong legs and good cardio required to ride it without making pauses. It’s a playful terrain to progress safely. Access the area with the Grand Canyon chairlift.
These areas are not groomed to keep its natural and wild aspect. However they are secured by ski patrol when they are declared “open” by the piste service. As for the other open slopes of the domain, the piste rescue is assured in these areas.
However, a strong practising level is required to handle the large variety of snow conditions that you may face. You’ll have to assess and appreciate the conditions on your own. Contrary to the other classical pistes, these areas are not patrolled so we advise you to go there accompanied.
